A couple of months ago I shared my nighttime skincare routine on IGTV. I’ve been meaning to put a blog post together to share everything here, but #entrepreneurproblems.
Over the last year or two, skincare has easily become one of my FAVORITE things to discuss. No, I am not a skincare professional although I do have some amazing estheticians I would recommend.
I struggled with my skin throughout high school and college. Nothing extremely crazy, but I have a lot of scarring from acne, my hormones seem to be always out of whack, and birth control NEVER helped.
I tried prescriptions from the dermatologist and facials from my esthetician and while it would get better for a little bit – it always got worse again.
The Importance of Skincare
I started to look into products I was using on my skin – to cleanse, to moisturize, to prime. I realized I could do so much better when it came to washing my face, getting all the makeup off, and letting good products absorb into my skin overnight.
Enter my nighttime skincare products.
Nighttime Skincare Routine
These products and some similar items have been my go-tos. They all live on my nightstand and I use them every single night. I do have similar products that live on my vanity as well, but those I’ll save those for another post!
My skin feels so much better. It breathes better and is able to absorb the good ingredients in some of these items.
Nighttime Skincare Routine Order
The KEY to rocking any skincare item you have – the right order!
You can have products on products, but if you aren’t using them correctly and in the right order, you’ll never receive the full benefits.
Your nighttime skincare should be applied in this order:

- Cleansing Balm (Rose)
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Serums (Obsessed with this, helped my skin texture and brightness)
- Face Oils
- Moisturizer (Good intro to retinol)
- Eye Cream / Lip Mask
Save or Splurge?
When it comes to skincare products which ones should you save on and which ones should you splurge on?
For me, I think skincare is so important and usually splurge a little bit more than I do on makeup.
But if I had to make a choice I would do the following.
Save on:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Lip Mask
- Moisturizers that AREN’T anti-aging/retinol
Splurge on:
- Cleansing Balms
- Serums
- Face Oils (although you can find some very affordable ones that are great!)
- Moisturizers that are anti-aging/retinol
I’d love to hear what your favorite skincare products are and I’d love to try them!
