Current Skin Care Routine + Products

Hi babes – first off, let’s preface this with the fact that my skin is SENSITIVE. I would say I have combination skin, it’s not necessarily oily – you’ll never find me blotting, but it also isn’t super dry. Except during the winter months, I need to moisturize like crazy, (aka – let me skin absorb some LOVE), but who doesn’t? I wanted to share my current skin care routine and various beauty products.

Let’s Be Real –  Years of Practice

I was never that girl in high school that had beautiful skin, but I also wasn’t covered with ba-ba-ba-ba-bacne. I went through phases of good skin and poor skin. I tried everything from Doxycycline to Proactiv[+]. I switched up products like fashion trends (every 2-3 months) and I went to both Dermatologists and [a]estheticians (yep – both of them!). Nothing seemed to work that was actually sticking around for the long haul.

Year after year I tested different things out and well, here’s my current skin care routine and some of my favorite products.

My Holy Grail Cleanser

I’m not kidding when I tell you DOVE Beauty Bar – Unscented is the best thing ever. I’ve been using it for 5+ years now and it has improved my skin more than anything else. It’s fragrance-free, it’s a cleanser not a soap – which means it leaves your skin HYDRATED not dry like a regular soap, and I am able to use it on my entire body which is like a 2-in-1 win! It is the only thing that doesn’t make me break out like crazy. But I only use the unscented, sensitive skin – I’ve tried their scented bars and HECK NO – I won’t go there. The unscented is the only thing I use. I’ve also tried the generic brands of Dove Sensitive Skin and I haven’t found one that I love as much. If I find an alternative – I’ll be sure to update you!

Find a cleanser that works for you! If something isn’t working, let it work! You can always incorporate another cleanser as I mention below, but finding your go-to face wash is so important!

Cleansers are SO Important

Tula Facial Cleanser // Honestly, I don’t use this every day. I use Dove – the holy grail one I listed above, but 1-2x a week I will throw this in the mix because I love the texture of it on my skin. I often rotate cleansers in and out of my routine to try them out to see how I like them! This is one of them. I wouldn’t spend the $$$ to use this daily, but it is great to mix in with your routine. I don’t think it helped with breakouts, personally.

Moisturizing Your Skin

Tula Hydrating Day & Night Cream // Oh my gosh! I am in LOVE with this cream. I use it day and night and it makes my skin feel amazing! It is definitely worth the price. My skin doesn’t feel oily like other creams I have tried and I put it on after I cleanse my face, while it is still damp so that the cream gets absorbed! I’ve tried everything from Cetaphil to Estee Lauder to Caudalie and I really like this one.

Finding a moisturizer for your skin is crucial. I want my moisturizer to be refreshing and light, I don’t want it to be over fragranced, I don’t want it to be heavy. I love the whipped feeling, but not and overwhelming amount.

Side Note – I love that Tula Products have a Probiotic Skin Technology! If you are purchasing the ones above, you can get 20% off your purchase when you order through here! Also, I did try out the Tula Exfoliating Mask as well as the Dual Phase Treatment Pads and was not a huge fan of either. It didn’t really help my skin, so I am not including them, but every one has different skin and I wanted to share that they didn’t work for me.

Masks that WORK

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay // I’m obsessed with this mask. I use it bi-weekly to monthly depending on how I am feeling. I’ve been using it for years! One container lasts a LONG time too! You can use it on it’s own or mix it to create more masks, which I love! I often use the standard recipe on the back, but I’ve been trying to mix and match more!

I’ve tried SO MANY masks. Store bought masks, homemade masks, drug store masks, and high end masks. I LOVE them. This is my go-to hands down! When I’m feeling extra, I’ll also include these into my skin care routine for a quick refresh.

Feeling Extra?

Peter Thomas Roth Hydra-Gel Eye Patches // I’ve been using these for a month and they make a HUGE difference! I use them every 2-3 days and they work wonders! They totally help with dark circles and wrinkles or fine lines.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum // I usually use this once a day after I wash and tone my face before priming. A little goes a long way.  What are your favorite skin care products currently?

xo, L

What a great routine! I’m a big fan of double cleansing – I use my oil cleanser first, then go back in with a foaming cleanser.
